So here is my SentrySafe DS0200 review: Getting a fire proof home safe never really crossed my mind, but after a close call to a house fire I decided to put more thought and consideration into getting one. To think, if fire damage or any other kind of natural damage were to occur, all of my important documents and valuables would be lost forever. So I decided to start searching for one. I realized they could be quite costly, so I decided to search online for the best deals.

The Safe That Fit My Needs: SentrySafe DS0200

Before I go and invest a good chunk of my money on a high class steel model, I decided to opt for a smaller and cheaper one. It’ll give me a good feel for what I’ll eventually be looking for in the future once my stuff of importance becomes extensive and no longer fits in a small safe. The SentrySafe DS0200 was one that was recommended to me by a friend who’s had his safe for almost 2 years now and hasn’t had any problems with it. I decided to go with his recommendation because it was affordable, an overall good ratings and its main feature was being fireproof. I bought one online for about $150. Not bad for something that will hopefully keep priceless valuables safe and secure.

My First Impression

The safe arrived after a few short days. It was a very heavy piece of metal that weighed nearly 85 pounds. It looked very secure just from the exterior. The interior of the safe was bigger than I had expected. In addition to important documents, passports, and certificates, I was able to fit in it box valuable jewelry and a small .22 magnum mini revolver. There is also a convenient key rack and compartment to put small items in. Although I don’t have any use for the key rack, since I need all of my keys on a daily bases, it’s a nice extra feature to have. This safe has the option of being bolted to the floor. It has four live locking bolts, three number combo lock, and is ETL verified for up to one hour of fire protection, up to 1700 degrees Fahrenheit.

The SentrySafe DS0200 has also been tested for durability with a fifteen foot drop test, also verified by the ETL. Even though I live in a one story home, it’s nice to know that the structure of the safe can withstand such impact. In the unlikelihood that my safe ever gets stolen, then it’s good to know that you can’t break through with just any kind of sledgehammer or human force. The durability of the safe really adds to the secure feeling that the safe can bring.
